50 States Project

14 Apr

Note: I decided Thursdays will be travel Thursdays, so I will blog about SOMETHING related somehow to travel.

When I was a kid, I got to travel all the time. My mom was in the air force, so not only did we move around a lot, we got to travel a lot while doing it. It was fantastic!

One summer, we moved from Los Angeles to Alabama (gross, right? Not the best final destination …)

Anyway, so we bought an RV and spent the entire summer moving rather than driving it in 3 or 4 days. We went to I don’t even know how many states. I saw so much cool stuff, but I was so young that I don’t really remember a lot of it except what I’ve seen in pictures.

Soooo now I want to recreate those adventures through my own 50 States Project. I’m going to create a new page on here, and my goal is to go to every state plus DC over the next 5 years. I’ll start with where I’ve been since January 1, 2011 and go until January 1, 2016. It’s so totally doable, right? I’m pumped! The only rule is that only being in an airport doesn’t count. I have to actually go out and see shit.

Maybe a goal should be to go to a gay bar in every state … in that case, kentucky is off the list. I’ll leave that under consideration.

So far I’ve been to:

– Ohio

– Kentucky

– Illinois

– California

4 down, 47 to go. Woot!

Anyone want to road trip around the states?

Cheers,

BDOC

I will!! I’ve already been to most, but my upcoming blog post is actually about spending next summer taking at least one of the many road trips that i’ve always wanted to take!! And I mean let’s really do it, not just have another fools day.
